According to the National Bureau of Economic Research 'higher levels of education quality increases growth rates of national income. The Australian Government has acknowledged how imperative it is for the youth of Australia to be highly educated and skilled in order to compete globally in an increasingly competitive market. The School Business Community Partnership Brokers program creates and improves Partnerships between community, business and industry, parents and families, and schools, to extend learning beyond the classroom, increase student engagement, lift attainment and improve educational outcomes through a whole-of-community approach that supports young people’s learning and development, ultimately producing outcomes that will assist young people to make a successful transition to further education or training and work.
Program Goals:
- To increase the Year 12 or equivalent Attainment Rate to 90 percent by 2015
- To ensure Australian schooling promotes quality and excellence
- To ensure young people gain the skills and experience necessary to become creative, confident individuals who make successful life decisions
- To improve education, training and employment outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, e.g. individuals from low SES backgrounds, humanitarian refugees and Indigenous Australians
