Introduction

Education is an important element for the future success of a young person. The skills and knowledge they acquire when they are young will help support them for the rest of their lives. In support of the important roll education plays in a young person’s life, the School Business Community Partnership Brokers Program aims to create and build Partnerships between community, business and industry, parents and families, and education to extend learning beyond the classroom, increase student engagement, lift attainment and improve educational outcomes through a whole-of-community approach that supports young people’s learning and development, ultimately producing outcomes that will assist young people to make a successful transition to further education or training and work.

CBCC as Partnership Brokers will identify and build relationships and linkages with businesses and industry, education and training providers, parents and families, and community groups and bring them together in Partnership to support and assist to overcome young people's barrier to education. It will help to enhance and apply what is being taught in the classroom which makes these Partnerships valuable to all education providers. These outside stakeholders may, for example, act as mentors, provide wrap around advice and support services, provide opportunities to experience the workplace etc. With the help of other stakeholders, young people may gain new skills and education to use in their everyday life.
